Optical mice are always better than laser, even while optical mice won't work on glass. Personally I don't because of angle snapping/prediction, it's a pretty serious issue. Razer Deathadder Black Edition is the same as 3.5G, but with shipped updated firmware and rubber finish (instead of that shiny plastic). I use the Razer Lachesis 5600, and hate Mouse Acceleration (Windows enables it by default).
